April 2023 WFW Events
Wood-First-Wednesday continues to be a growing success at TWIG, that was sparked after the British Columbia Timber Building Tour and some initiative from Will Millard who works at Naikoon Contracting. After 15 events, the monthly get together keeps growing and attracting more people living and working in the Vancouver area, joining for a beer and some conversation around wood. The real impact of this event is its informal nature which generates unexpected interactions and new connections between the people who attend. We don’t know for sure what exactly goes on after the events, but we know our attendees are taking action and following up based on conversations that took place at WFW.
The event is simple. On the first Wednesday of each month we meet at a venue from 6:00-8:30, sit down at a table and share stories from our journeys and careers in wood. It’s a place to invite those people you know who are seeking a community, contacts and connections to support their goals and projects in wood. You can be sure that at these events there is someone you’re going to meet that you didn’t know before, and that they have something to offer that might support you in your work. Just this last month we launched our first edition of WFW in Victoria with the help of Donna Shaw from Live Edge Design and Mike Randall from Mike Randall Design , and we are excited about this event happening in multiple locations at once!
To keep in touch about the events, sign up for the TWIG mailing list and follow our Wood-First-Wednesday page with the schedule. Our next event in Vancouver is at Faculty Brewing on April 5th, with the event in Victoria will take place at Toolpath Design.
