What started as an informal gathering of a Wood-First-Wednesday event in Victoria at Craft Brewery, coordinated with the help of Donna Shaw of Live Edge Design, and Mike Randall has evolved into something more. This first event proved that there was an eagerness to create a platform on Vancouver Island for wood professionals to connect. Vancouver Island has a large number of shops, artisans, suppliers and manufacturers, but it is missing the events and opportunities where these people can connect and expand their network. With the initiative of Marc deMontigny of Toolpath Design, the events on the Island continue with a mix of shop and studio visits, to Brewery hangouts. The goal of these events is to bring together the broad array of people working with wood, and create a regular space for them to network, develop collaborations and find the resources they need to realize projects.
